Field Location Capture Guide

Workflow: Recording Locations Without GIS Software

Capture points and polygons in the field, and organize them into shareable groups — no GIS tools or training needed.

Agronomist Farmer

Easy as 1-2-3

1. Log in and Create a Group

  • Go to app.snappymapper.com

  • Go to “Groups” and click "Add New Group"

  • Give it a name (e.g. “Site Survey – 2025”) and optional description

2. Add Field Locations

Choose the input method that works best for your context:

Use Current Location – Add a point from your phone’s GPS

Search – Find and pin a place using an address or name

Photo Geotag – Upload a photo with location metadata

Draw on Map – Sketch points or polygons directly

Trail Trace – Walk or drive the boundary to trace a polygon

|          Tip: Each location includes its address automatically.

3. Export or Sync

  • GIS teams can download GeoJSON or access the group via API

  • Data is exportable in any CRS (coordinate reference system)

That’s it — your location data is now structured, accessible, and ready for use. No installs. No GIS tools. Just results.
